Ocean Shore Cocktail made with real Sloe Gin

Sloe gin is a traditional sweet liqueur popular especially in England made using the fruit of the Blackthorn tree, sugar and gin.

Sloe berries can be found all over Europe and give the essential taste to this lovely fruit gin. Althrough most sloe gins tend to be sticky sweet, The Bitter Truth Sloe Gin is dry and shows the character of a gin merged with tart, fruity berry flavors.
The Bitter Truth Sloe Gin is solely made with real sloe berries macerating for months in copper pot still destilled dry gin and is then finally balanced with sugar to sooth out the tart and sour aromas of the sloe berry.
No coloring or additives are used for an all natural experience of a real sloe gin.
At The Cocktail Spirit with Robert Hess, over at SMALL SCREEN NETWORK, Robert mixes up a frothy Ocean Shore Cocktail using The Bitter Truth Sloe Gin in combination with dry gin, lemon juice, orgeat and egg white. Sounds yummy? Check it out!Read more

Tasting Notes by IWSC Judges:

Very dark with green tinged rim. Complex nose with combination of anise, gentian and wide herbal range. Hints of clove, ginger and liquorice.

Rich and full in the mouth with sweet, syrupy flow. Initially soothing until you register the chilli content which sets up a burning sensation the lifts all the bitter, sweet characters. The chilli burn stays forever !

The Bitter Truth signs into distribution with Suntory Australia

June 2011

Press Release:

SUNTORY BECOMES NEW AUSTRALIAN DISTRIBUTOR FOR

THE BITTER TRUTH RANGE

Available for the first time in Australia for national distribution, The Bitter Truth Cocktail bitters portfolio has joined the Suntory (Aust) Pty portfolio in April 2011.

The Bitter Truth range is the worlds’ premium range of cocktail flavourings, made from 100% natural ingredients.

Originally, cocktail bitters were the ingredient that distinguished cocktails from other categories of beverages such as Toddies, Slings, Fizzes, Sours or Punches. For decades, they were an essential component of good cocktail creations. The start of prohibition curtailed consumers’ drinking habits and cocktail bitters almost sank into oblivion. Only a few brands survived that period, but even after that, not all of them managed to reestablish themselves in the new market.

In 2006, Munich bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck gave birth to the idea of producing and distributing cocktail bitters on a large scale, as they were hard to find in Germany and of inferior quality. Both of them had already gained a considerable amount of experience in producing handmade cocktail bitters for the bars they were working in.

In a polite doff our hats to the classic Martini we were looking for competitors to use the The Bitter Truth and Hayman`s Gin in a twist on the classic mix of gin and bitters for their Vintage recipe.

For the Visionary recipe, we were looking for new leaders in the industry to draw inspiration from the progressive way as bar tending Brits consistently push the boundaries of cocktail culture.
