“Old Waldorf Bar Days” by Albert Stevens Crockett was one of the great books of the 1930`s. The bar of the Old Waldorf hotel was the social meeting place in NYC at that time, but unfortunately the hotel itself had to make room for a new icon of New York City – The Empire State Building.
The Sherman Cocktail, found in Crockett`s book is essentially a twist on the classic Manhattan with the addition of absinthe and two types of bitters.

The Old Fashioned Cocktail is simple yet multidimensional. Its few ingredients combine to create what some consider the perfect cocktail. You can make old fashioned cocktails with any spirit; rum and tequila both make a wonderful old fashioned.
The Cubed Old Fashioned could just take you to the fourth dimension! See how Jamie Boudreau explains how to make this yummy drink on SMALLCREEN NETWORK using multiple types of bitters…Cheers to Trinidad.

The Brown Cocktail
50ml (2 oz) Templeton Rye Whiskey
25ml (1 oz) London Dry Gin
2 dashes (a scant barspoon at most) gomme syrup
2 dashes The Bitter Truth Orange Bitters
Stir the three ingredients with plenty of ice before straining into a chilled cocktail glass. The original makes no mention of a garnish, but I like it with a small orange twist to draw out some of the sweeter notes.
