Julien Escot wins International Havana Club Competition

WEST INDIES Cocktail by Julien Escot
Big applause to Julien Escot from famed Papa Doble Bar in Montpellier/France as he just won this years International Cocktail Competition run by Havana Club Rum. Our friend Camper English over at ALCADEMICS covered the comp in detail here… So we appreciate that Julien used a bunch of our products to stand out against 40 participants from around the world.

WEST INDIES

Ingredients:
50 ml (1 1/2 oz) Havana Club Rum 3 years
20 ml (2/3 oz) fresh Lime Juice
20 ml (2/3 oz) Cinnamon and Vanilla Homemade Syrup
5 ml (1/6 oz) The Bitter Truth Pimento Dram
2 dashes The Bitter Truth Creole bitters
Half an egg white
grated nutmeg

Instructions:
Shake all ingredients with ice and fine strain into chilled glass. Add the garnish.

CARIBBEAN JULEP by Julien Escot

CARIBBEAN JULEP

Ingredients:
80 ml (2 3/4 oz) Havana Club Rum 7 years
10/12 fresh mint leaves (hierba Buena)
5 ml (1/6 oz) The Bitter Truth Pimento Dram
20 ml (2/3 oz) homemade Falernum
mint sprig, candied orange zests, crushed spices

Instructions:
Muddle Mint with the Velvet Falernum in base of the julep tin. Add some crushed ice and the rest of the ingredients. Churn (stir) the drink with the crushed ice using a bar spoon. Top up the cup with more crushed ice and Churn again. Add the garnish.

45 ml (1 1/2 oz) Tequila
30 ml (1 oz) The Bitter Truth Golden Falernum
15 ml (1/2 oz) fresh Lime Juice
2-3 dashes The Bitter Truth Chocolate bitters
Garnish:
Lime Wedge
Glass:
Martini
Ice:
None
Method:
Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with a lime-wedge.
