SUNTORY BECOMES NEW AUSTRALIAN DISTRIBUTOR FOR

THE BITTER TRUTH RANGE

Available for the first time in Australia for national distribution, The Bitter Truth Cocktail bitters portfolio has joined the Suntory (Aust) Pty portfolio in April 2011.

The Bitter Truth range is the worlds’ premium range of cocktail flavourings, made from 100% natural ingredients.

Originally, cocktail bitters were the ingredient that distinguished cocktails from other categories of beverages such as Toddies, Slings, Fizzes, Sours or Punches. For decades, they were an essential component of good cocktail creations. The start of prohibition curtailed consumers’ drinking habits and cocktail bitters almost sank into oblivion. Only a few brands survived that period, but even after that, not all of them managed to reestablish themselves in the new market.

In 2006, Munich bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck gave birth to the idea of producing and distributing cocktail bitters on a large scale, as they were hard to find in Germany and of inferior quality. Both of them had already gained a considerable amount of experience in producing handmade cocktail bitters for the bars they were working in.

Since launching in 2006 The Bitter Truth range of bitters now includes Orange, Old Time Aromatic, Lemon, Jerry Thomas’ Own Decanter, Creole, Grapefruit, Chocolate and Celery. All of these flavours will be available through Suntory.

At the Los Angeles International Spirits Competition 2010 The Bitter Truth Jerry Thomas Bitters was crowned with a “Gold Medal” and voted “Best in Class”. In addition, at Tales of the Cocktail New Orleans 2010 The Bitter Truth Celery Bitters took away the top prize of “Best New Product”.
